Metal Army America review for Running Out of Daylight

The Living Fields inhabit an ultra symphonic, yet very approachable sonic headspace; one which is simultaneously progressive and accessible by an audience anxious for melody and vast, sweeping song structure.

Running Out of Daylight is the band's Candlelight debut-after self releasing a debut in 2007-and sets a bit of promise on display, with echoing reverberations of Maudlin of the Well, Grayceon, Opeth and Hammers of Misfortune running their course throughout the band's length songwriting habits.

There's a wealth of emotion within the screamed and sung vocals of Jonathan Higgs, while the guitars of Sam Rahn weave their way in and out of the stringed accompaniment and choral overload which is The Living Fields' sound. Overall, it's still a big rough and unpolished, yet there's clear potential for crossover here, perhaps even to fans of modern goth metal like Within Temptation and Leaves Eyes.

The Living Fields is heavier and far more involved than those acts, however, delivering the goods on a song like 'Perseverance,' while proving their mettle as an act to keep a close eye on over the next few years.
